Perpetual Profession and Diaconate Ordination in India
Gurumandir, Mysore: Gurumandir which means “the temple of the master” (the minor seminary of the Indian Vice-Province) witnessed a fourfold celebration on the 2nd and 3rd of February 2022 in Mysore, Karnataka, India. On the first day, we had three celebrations together which was organized in our minor seminary in the historical city of Mysore. The house was like the palace with colors and flowers decorated by our minor seminarians for the joyful celebration. The three grand events of the day were:
1. The Day of the Consecrated Life in the Universal Church
2. The Inauguration of the Continental Mission Year - Asia and Oceania
3. The Final Commitment of our two Bros. Anthony Allan and Santhosh Prabhu.
The Holy Eucharist celebration for the final profession of our two brothers was presided by Fr Peter Mascarenhas, the Provincial Superior of Indian Vice-Province. Fr Prem preached the homily and our Bros. Anthony Allan and Santhosh Prabhu made their perpetual profession during the Holy mass. The parents and family members of these two brothers witnessed their final commitment to the Montfort Congregation. The Vice-Province of India was very happy to welcome the two young men into the Montfortian family. The celebration ended with a delicious meal with the family and Montfortian family at the table.
The diaconate ordination of our Bros. Anthony Allan and Santhosh Prabhu was held on the following day that is 3rd of February at 6:45 am. It was yet another celebration that was solemnized at Gurumandir. Most Rev. K.A William, the Bishop of Mysore solemnized the Holy Eucharist and ordained them as deacons. In his homily, Bishop preached on the role of deacon in the church and reminded them of their faithfulness towards the office of the deacons in the service of the Church. He said one need to be rooted in the prayer and faith of the church and that need to be proclaimed. The liturgy was well organized with beautiful singing by our brothers which added devotion to the celebration. The parents and the Montfortians witnessed the celebration and it ended with breakfast for everyone who was part of the celebration.
