Jesus increased in wisdom and in years and in divine and human favor (Lk 2: 52)

Maria Bhavan, BENGALURU - The Corona Pandemic has made a global impact in the past few months and continues to hit most of the sectors and one of them is education. Students across the world are losing the valuable time of their education during the imposed lockdown amidst fears of the pandemic. The situation has forced the schools, colleges and institutions to shut down and the students to stay at home. No wonder, the children as well as the parents feel emotionally and psychologically drained at this juncture. At such a time, the extended lockdown period is forcing the education sector in India to rapidly evolve. Most schools and institutions have come up with the idea of online classes for students to start their respective academic years, instead of wasting time due to the delay in re-opening of institutions.
Due to the public health and emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Dharmaram Vidya Kshetram (Institution for the Philosophy and Theology), could not open the Academic Year 2020-2021 as scheduled on June 1, 2020. However, DVK has launched the Online Classes for the students of Philosophy and Theology from the 4th of August 2020 onwards. We appreciate their efforts and dedication in the field of Ecclesiastical Studies. It was quite a challenge for us to re-organize the desktops for the brothers here since they are of five different batches. We equipped them with the right essentials in terms of providing them the mic, cameras, CPU, etc.
This year, we have 15 students for Philosophy and 6 students for Theology, as they have begun their Online Classes at DVK. This is a new initiation from the college as well as the community and we wish them the best. We hope to renew their classes back to the colleges if the pandemic subsides in the country. It is interesting to note that the Superior who is in charge of the scholastics has to monitor the Online Classes of the students and then send the attendance to the institution once in two weeks as per their requirements and we are open for their suggestions. Like King Solomon and Prophet Daniel, we wish that our scholastics may become men of desire to acquire this great treasure which is Wisdom (LEW, no. 183).
