February 6th, Saturday.
I. Heb 13: 15-21
II. MK 6:30-34
Theme: Jesus is the good shepherd.
In the first reading, the author begins by exhorting the community to praise God through Jesus, a reminder that we always come before God our Father as brothers and sisters of Christ. Everywhere in the prayers at mass we note this same approach to God through Christ. The author also reminds the Christians not to neglect good deeds and generosity because these are some of the practical ways, when we live the sacrifice of mass in our daily lives. In the gospel reading we hear that St. Mark points out that Jesus felt pity for the crowd. He saw that many of them did not know which way to turn in life, while others lacked the strength to go on. They were like sheep without a shepherd.
We should have compassion like Jesus. Today Jesus call’s his disciples to equip themselves to be good shepherds to animate and give their rights orientation to the millions of people who are suffering across the world.
